The Warsaw Metro system is standard gauge and is 15.5 km long with 15 stations. The first section was opened in 1995 although the city authorities had approved a resolution for a subway design in 1925.
Subway cars are of 2 types, the class 81 built by Wagonmasz in St. Petersburg (60 cars built in the early 90s) & 108 Alstom-Konstal cars delivered between 2000 & 2004.
