Ostrava tram system runs on standard gauge tracks and there are 15 routes
numbered between 1 & 19. All cars in service prior to 1997 were Tatras
built by ČKD when some low floor Škoda Astras were purchased and in 2002
an order was placed with INEKON for their 01 TRIO model. 1506 was built by ČKD in Prague in 1989 as a single ended KT8D5, 8-axle articulated tram and was modified by Pragoimex in 2005 by replacing the normal-floor centre section with a low floor design as well as mechanical & electrical upgrades. The Ostrava tram modifications were based on those carried out for Brno. Modernized KT8D5.RN1 1506 on line 2 in Vitkovická ulice at Dr. Malého tram stop on Wednesday June 29th, 2005. |
