Miskolc retains 2 tram lines from a previously larger system. Both lines 1 & 2 share the route from the city centre to the station. The lines are standard gauge. 183 is part of a group of secondhand E1 class trams purchased in 2002 from Vienna where it was numbered 4723.

Tram 183 has just pulled out of the tram shed and entered service on route 2 as it approaches Miskolc Tiszai station on Friday October 24th, 2003. Notice the snow on the front roof dome which will undoubtedly disappear as the tram travels its route.
