Szabadsag Hid

Budapest has an extensive system of trams lines numbered between 1 and 69 with gaps due to line closings over the years. The lines are standard gauge.

When the EU expanded on May 1st, 2004 it became a weekend holiday with various special events. One feature was the closure of the Szabadsag & Chain bridges and the installation of a waterfall on the Erzsébet bridge. The Szabadsag bridge was covered in real grass and benches and potted trees and plants were added. Lines 47 & 49 on the Buda side were diverted to Batthyány tér and buses were substituted on the Pest side.
