Budapest has an extensive system of trams lines numbered between 1 and 69 with gaps due to line closings over the years.
The lines are standard gauge. Link to the
Budapest Public Transport English Site. Tatra T5C5 cars were built in what was then Czechoslovakia and are single-ended cars riding on 2 4-wheel trucks, they have seating for 28 and a top speed of 65 km/h, 40 mph. They are
powered by 4 electric motors having a combined rating of 180 kW, 240 hp and draw
600 volts from the overhead. 4282 was built in July 1984. Tatra T5C5 number 4282 heads a northbound route 14 service away from the Lehel tér terminus on Saturday May 1st, 2004. Of interest is the traffic light controlling the trams entrance to the end of the line. |
