Budapest has an extensive system of trams lines numbered between 1 and 69 with gaps due to line closings over the years.
The lines are standard gauge. Link to the
Budapest Public Transport English Site. Tatra T5C5 cars were built in what was then Czechoslovakia and are single-ended cars riding on 2 4-wheel trucks, they have seating for 28 and a top speed of 65 km/h, 40 mph. They are
powered by 4 electric motors having a combined rating of 180 kW, 240 hp and draw
600 volts from the overhead. 4242 was built in May 1984. Blaha Lujza tér terminus of routes 28 & 37 with T5C5 4242 arriving on a 28 service and Ganz 1324 ready to depart with a 37. Photographed on Sunday May 2nd, 2004. |
