3873 on Nagysándor József utca

Budapest has an extensive system of trams lines numbered between 1 and 69 with gaps due to line closings over the years. The lines are standard gauge. UV5 cars (3800-3899) were built by Ganz in Hungary between 1962 & 1965 as single-ended cars riding on 2 4-wheel trucks, they have seating for 20 (22 in the other UV series) and a top speed of 60 km/h, 37 mph. They are powered by 4 electric motors having a combined rating of 148 kW, 198 hp and draw 600 volts from the overhead. The difference with the UV5 cars are the centre double doors compared to the other cars which have single centre doors.

Ganz UV5 car 3873 heads a line 52 service along Nagysándor József utca at the intersection of Ady Endre. The tram lines in this vicinity run single tracked like the figure 8 and this is the meeting point for the two loops. The service is scheduled to take 18 minutes to return to this spot traveling on the other track. Saturday October 25th, 2003.
