Budapest has an extensive system of trams lines numbered between 1 and 69 with gaps due to line closings over the years. The lines are standard gauge. UV1 cars (3200-3249) were built by Ganz in Hungary between 1956 & 1957 as single-ended cars riding on 2 4-wheel trucks, they have seating for 22 and a top speed of 60 km/h, 37 mph. They are powered by 4 electric motors having a combined rating of 148 kW, 198 hp and draw 600 volts from the overhead.

Ganz UV1 car 3248 heads a northbound 19 service along the west bank of the Danube near the Ybl Miklós tér tram stop on Saturday October 25th, 2003.
