There are 3 rack fitted units (1001-3) built in 1982 by MAN/SLM/AEG and are classified as ZT4 (Zahnradtriebwagen 4-axle). They are fitted with 2 traction motors driving a single axle in each bogie for a total rating of 538 kW, 721 hp. They provide seating for 56 passengers and are metre gauge.
