Calgary Transit operates a light rail service using these Siemens-Düwag U2 2-car 6-axle articulated units which run on standard gauge drawing 600 volts DC from the overhead. The outer trucks have both axles powered and the centre truck (under the gangway) are non-powered. These high floor units require platforms for loading and unloading. Part of the system operates along roadways and some is on a private right-of-way. Unit 2041, from the 1983-85 batch, going to the City Centre along 7th Avenue on Friday May 20th, 2005. |
