Vienna's tram system is standard gauge and has 32 lines numbered between 1
& 71 as well as 4 alpha routes (D, J, N, O). Link to their German language website (tourist information
available in English & Italian). E2 class 4058 was
built in 1986 by SGP. It seats 44 people and is rated at 300 kW. Class E2 4058 seen from the S-Bahn at Speising. The photo was taken from the S3 train towards the Südbahnhof in Vienna at the level crossing near the station. Just to the east is a bridge where the tram lines cross under the railway and at that point was another tram which had become disabled and several trams held behind it. The Police had that section of the road closed forcing the traffic across the railway here and creating the back-up. Thursday September 30, 2004 at 14:42. |
