ÖBB Class 1142 were modified from class 1042 from 1995 onwards by the fitting of push-pull equipment, and raising the top speed. These are Bo-Bo locomotives rated at 4000 kW, 5360 hp and have a top speed of 150 km/h, 93 mph. They weigh 82.5 metric tonnes.
This locomotive was built by SGP in Graz (serial number 72812) with electrics by Elin in December 1976 and was originally numbered 1042.684. It was fitted with push-pull apparatus in January 2000 and renumbered 1142 684-8.
